Pharmacists

Responsibilities:

As a pharmacist working with Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders(MSF), you can help ensure access to lifesaving healthcare for people in need. MSF pharmacists:

• monitor medical consumption
• supervise and train staff
• support policy development

Pharmacists work closely with international and locally-hired staff to ensure good pharmaceutical practices and adherence to national rules. You will be responsible for the quality, appropriateness and smooth coordination of the medical supply lines, including the storage,distribution and ordering of drugs and medical equipment. You will analyze consumption and medical data. You will also assist and advise on local purchases, drug destruction and medical donations. The pharmacist supervises locally-hiredstaff who deal with the daily management of drugs and medical equipment.

Essential requirements:

• full and current registration
• minimum two years relevant post-qualification work experience
• available to work six to 9 months
• experience supervising, training and managing others
• experience in supply management ororganization of stocks
• strong command of English
• relevant travel or work experience in a developing country

Desirable experience:

• relevant experience in: hospital settings and remote locations; management of HIV, TB and sexually transmitted infections
• course in tropical medicine
• knowledge of other languages, especiallyFrench and Arabic
