Technical Logisticians

(Mechanical technician, Construction supervisor, Architect, Supply chain manager, Logistic supervisor, IT technician)

Responsibilities:

As a logistician working with Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders(MSF), you can help ensure access to lifesaving healthcare for people in need. MSF logisticians:

  • provide daily support to MSF medical teams
  • maintain basic medical facilities aswell as offices and team lodgings
  • manage the supply of medical andnon-medical goods
  • supervise and train staff

Logisticians are masters of all trades. You will hire and supervise the local staff responsible for many key tasks, including the management of water and sanitation facilities, the vehicle fleet, and information and communications technology. You will also contribute to security policy development and transportation planning. You will have frequent contact with local authorities and agencies, and other non governmental organizations.

Essential requirements:

  • minimum two years relevant work experience
  • technical skills in three or more of the following:
  • vehicle mechanics
  • energy and electricity
  • information technology
  • supply management
  • construction
  • available to work six to 9 months
  • experience supervising, training and managing others
  • strong command of English
  • relevant travel or work experience in a developing country

Desirable experience:

  • bookkeeping, finance and budget management
  • proficiency with Microsoft Office software
  • knowledge of other languages, especially French and Arabic
