FAQ F2F a D2D
General information
What is face-to-face (F2F) fundraising?
Face-to-face (F2F) fundraising is a way of engaging people in person – on the street, in shopping centres or at public events – to introduce them to the work of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and explain how they can support our patients around the world.
What is door-to-door (D2D) fundraising?
Door-to-door (D2D) fundraising is a way of engaging people in person – in residential neighbourhoods – to introduce them to the work of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and explain how they can support our patients around the world.
Why do we approach you on the street and in your neighbourhood?
Personal conversations are one of the most effective ways to explain our work, answer questions and connect with new supporters.
Why does MSF carry out F2F and D2D fundraising?
Our work is only possible thanks to the solidarity of our donors. We do not receive any funding from the Czech state budget. F2F and D2D fundraising allows us to reach out to new audiences and expand our community of donors, enabling us to respond immediately to humanitarian crises around the world.
The donation process
How does the donation sign-up process work?
One of our fundraisers will guide you through a short form on a tablet, where you will provide basic information and choose the amount you’d like to donate each month. Your recurring donation is then set up securely via a payment card through the Darujme.cz platform.
Will I receive confirmation that my donation has been successfully received?
Yes – after registration, you will receive a confirmation email to reassure you that your support has been successfully arranged and will help our patients wherever the need is greatest.
Will I receive a donation receipt for tax purposes?
Yes – we automatically send the donation tax receipt by the end of January of the following year.
We will send the receipt by email or post to the address you provided when making your donation. It will cover all contributions you made in the previous year.
If you need a donation receipt sooner, please contact our Donor Service Team:
- Email: dary@lekari-bez-hranic.cz
- Phone: +420 257 090 151 (09:00 – 16:00)
Can I cancel my recurring donation at any time?
Yes, if you decide you no longer wish to support MSF, you can cancel your donations at any time via your Darujme.cz profile or through our Donor Service Team:

The importance of regular giving
Why are regular monthly donations so important?
Regular donations allow us to plan our work in advance and respond immediately to emergencies without having to wait for one-off emergency fundraising appeals.
Can I make a one-off donation?
Yes – you can make a one-off donation at any time via the online donation form on our website. During in-person conversations, we primarily focus on recurring support, which has the greatest impact on our work.
What will my donation be used for?
Humanitarian needs can change rapidly, which is why donations are not tied to specific projects. Unrestricted funding allows us to provide assistance wherever it is needed most. Your support helps us remain independent and able to respond wherever people face the greatest medical needs.
Practical questions
Where do your fundraisers operate?
Our fundraisers work in busy public locations, such as streets, shopping centres, and underground stations, as well as through D2D fundraising in residential areas.
Isn’t this method of fundraising expensive?
Face-to-face and door-to-door fundraising require an initial investment, but it is one of the most effective ways of building a committed community of regular donors. Like any form of fundraising, it involves costs, but these are outweighed by the long-term value of regular donations, which enable us to sustain our work and provide medical care to the people who need it most.
Why don’t you use all donations directly on projects?
Providing medical and humanitarian assistance requires more than funding activities in the field. It also depends on strong support systems, skilled staff, and effective processes. For this reason, a portion of donations is used to cover essential operating costs, including fundraising activities that help us attract and retain supporters.
We do not receive any funding from the Czech state budget. Our work depends entirely on the generosity of people like you. This independence allows us to respond wherever medical needs are greatest and to remain guided solely by the needs of our patients.
Security and trust
How can I tell that a fundraiser really works for MSF?
All our fundraisers wear visible MSF identification (a white vest with the MSF logo and an ID card showing their name and ID number) and street fundraisers also work from clearly marked fundraising stands.
You can verify a fundraiser using their ID number on our website. If you have signed up to make a regular donation, you should also have received an information leaflet containing the same details shown on the fundraiser’s ID badge. You can also verify a fundraiser by calling us at +420 793 985 395 (09:00 – 20:00).
If you met a fundraiser but do not have their details, you can still call us on the number above to confirm whether a fundraising campaign is currently taking place and where our fundraisers are located.
Is it safe to share personal and payment details on the street?
Yes. Your information is entered into secure devices and transmitted directly to protected servers, where it is encrypted. You can enter your details yourself, meaning they are therefore visible only to you.
You can find more information about how we handle personal data on a dedicated page.
How do you use my personal information?
We use your information, for example, to keep you informed about our work, send donation receipts for tax purposes, and to contact you about urgent humanitarian appeals when necessary.

Why don’t you accept cash donations?
We do not accept cash for security reasons – this helps protect both you and our fundraisers. We also focus on regular donations because ongoing support enables us to plan our projects more effectively and reach more patients with the medical care they need.
Who oversees your finances?
Our finances are regularly reviewed and audited by relevant authorities at both national and international levels. We also publish audited annual and financial reports to ensure transparency and accountability.
Consolidated annual and financial reports for the global MSF movement are available on our international website.
If I become a donor, what kind of communications will I receive?
We will keep you informed about how your donations are helping our patients, either by email or through our printed magazine Bez hranic (Without Borders).
We hope that these updates help you see the impact of your support.
You can unsubscribe from emails or postal communications at any time.
Ethics and approach
Will your fundraisers put pressure on me?
No. Our fundraisers are trained to conduct open and respectful conversations. You are free to decline or end the conversation at any time.
Why do you approach me if I don’t know your organization?
Speaking with people who have not previously heard about MSF helps raise awareness of our work and gives you an opportunity to support our patients around the world.
Are the fundraisers paid?
Yes, the fundraisers are paid for their work. The remuneration system is designed to be fair and ethical towards the fundraisers, while encouraging respectful and transparent conversations with potential donors.
Do your fundraisers follow a code of ethics?
Yes. All of our fundraisers adhere to a binding Code of Ethics that sets out standards for professional, transparent, and respectful conduct when engaging with members of the public and supporters.
Among other things, the Code requires fundraisers to provide accurate and truthful information, respect the wishes of the people they speak with, avoid any form of pressure or coercion, and safeguard donors' trust and personal information. It also includes provisions for protecting vulnerable individuals and preventing fraudulent or unethical behaviour.
If you would like to receive the full Code of Ethics, please contact us using the email address or telephone number provided below.
