Digital Strategist

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is one of the largest humanitarian and medical organizations in the world with projects in more than 70 countries. It is focusing on providing emergency medical assistance to populations affected by wars, natural disasters or lack of basic health care. 

For the MSF Operation Centre in Geneva (OCG), we are looking for a new colleague based in Prague.

Digital Strategist is one of the eight positions to strategically support OCG from a communications perspective. Their responsibility is to oversee digital communications in OCG countries of operation, to achieve strategic presence in the digital space, and to ensure sustainability, coherence and consistence in how MSF communicates in the online space across all the countries and during the change of field staff. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Be the first point of reference and contact in case of crisis management for digital communications for OCG.
  • Provide support to Field Comms Teams and Strategic Communications Advisors, especially in the area of social media security, social media content production and community management, social media advertising, developing social media strategies and visual guidelines, conducting digital assessments, reporting, and digital monitoring and analysis.
  • Be responsible for creating and maintaining MSF presence on social media sites, which includes Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other platforms.
  • Oversee the increas of overall exposure of MSF, help target regional and local influencers and contribute to communication strategies employed by MSF.
  • Implement the Digital Bare Minimum Standards in the OCG countries of operations and monitor the level of digital skills in the Digital Maturity Matrix. 
  • Be the first point of reference in case of digital crisis communications.
  • Strategize, analyse and guide MSF OCG led digital communications initiatives and community management.
  • Strategize, analyse and guide MSF OCG digital monitoring, reporting, and advertising.
  • Coach and mentor Field Comms Managers and Officers on content creation for social media, social media management and community building.
  • Participate in relevant intersectional and interdisciplinary platforms.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • University or College Degree or Certificate in a relevant field (candidates without a formal education may be considered if they possess significant additional experience 5+ years in digital marketing or digital communication).
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in social media management and community building.
  • Proficient knowledge of English language.
  • Experience in social media monitoring, social media advertising, and digital strategy.
  • Familiarity with social media monitoring tools (Crowdtangle, TalkWalker) and with Facebook Business Manager.
  • Commitment to the work and principles of MSF (Neutrality, Impartiality, Independence).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively in a dynamic organisation.
  • User experience with Microsoft 365 is desirable.
  • Experience in the humanitarian field will be an advantage.
